Perryn Ryan is a contemporary artist and illustrator living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Her work and creative practice are a commitment to a life of slow living, mindfulness, and ease from the perspective of the female gaze. Using soft pastels and digital painting mediums, her art invites viewers into a world where emotions take shape and stories unfold. Through her evocative imagery, viewers are prompted to contemplate the complexities of existence and appreciate the beauty of the feminine perspective.
Originally hailing from Washington D.C., Perryn attended Philadelphia University, earning her B.S. in Computer Information Systems, and Parsons The New School, earning her A.A.S in Fashion Design. Primarily self-taught, coupled with some formal art training during her formative years, Perryn has developed a style and body of work that has captured the attention of hundreds of collectors worldwide, as well as commercial illustration opportunities with brands like Kate Spade, Harper Collins, Pure Leaf Teas, and Pressed Juicery.
In addition, Perryn’s work has been featured on HBO Max’s Stylish With Jenna Lyons, Pop Sugar, Good Housekeeping, Business Insider, and The Amsterdam News, and exhibited at DSGN Gallery and West Elm Dumbo. Perryn has recently added teaching to her resume, working as a teaching artist at Lower Manhattan’s Forsyth Satellite Academy High School, where she leads students in digital art and illustration workshops.
She continues to strive for a life of daily creative living while finding inspiration within herself that can be brought to life in her distinctive style.
